Learn To Paddle…Or Paddle Better… Herring’s Outdoor Sports is the premiere kayak outfitter on Topsail Island. Our instructors are certified by the American Canoe Association and trained by the British Canoe. Our focus is on beginner paddlers…getting you out there and having fun safely with confidence. INTRODUCTION TO KAYAKING (2 – 3 Hours) In this course you will learn the basics of kayaking: paddle grip, boat fit and adjustment, entering and exiting a kayak. Following a brief clinic on currents, tides, weather and basic safety concerns, we get on the water to work on strokes and boat control techniques.
